Joyful Corner
Joyful Corner
2017, watercolor on cold press paper, 8×10.5″
This is one of my favorite spots on our walk around our north valley neighborhood. In spring, this corner is a riot of blooming plants. I find painting blues, greens, reds and yellows near each other very satisfying (yeah, it’s that proximity thing on the color wheel) and this composition simply invites it. I also love capturing the sun pouring in from the right, heightening the yellow already in the ground covers. One day I will knock on the owners’ door and offer them a copy of this painting.
