Albuquerque’s north valley ditches (trails along our irrigation canals) are a wonderful place to walk. Kristina has made it her routine to walk the ditches surrounding our neighborhood. I love working out the interplay of reds, blues, greens and browns in capturing the feel of clay, sand, and plant life dipping down to the canal. I also love capturing the reflections in the slow moving water, hinting at unseen trees and sky outside the frame of this composition. Every time I paint the ditches, I wonder if I might be an impressionist.
