I’m very fond of René Magritte’s night paintings (his L’Empire des Lumières, or Empire of Light, series) and have always wanted to try something similar. NM skies inspired this painting with a spectacular sunset over our humble 1930s adobe house. I wanted to depict a heartfelt glow of light from within as well as outside our home to convey how we feel about living here in Albuquerque’s north valley, snuggled in our love nest graced by light.
