Universe So Sweet

Universe So Sweet
2017, watercolor on cold press paper, 8×10″
This is one of my favorites in my portfolio. The moment I placed this jar of honey on our kitchen window sill I was hooked. I kept saying while working on it “this is like painting the universe inside a jar.” I loved tackling the different surfaces and textures – wood, stucco, glass, metal, and gooey “universe” – and was over the moon about the interplay of colors. Not much imagination was required; this was what everything looked like. I simply had to paint what I saw.
